Storholmen Viking village

We run a Living Archaeological Open Air Museum with focus on Viking Age that teaches visitors about Viking age by letting them experience the Viking Age with all senses. All our staff is dressed as Vikings and we act as if it is Viking Age for all our visitors.

Storholmen Viking village has been offering broad activities for children and adults for 15 years. During the summer the museum is teeming with life, crafts and activities and is open for tourists. During the autumn and spring schools visit us to learn and experience the life of the Vikings with open senses. We also arrange special programmes for groups, weddings and guided tours all year.

We receive many international tourists during our opening in the summers and during spring and autumn we receive many school-classes that have a full day at our Village where we teach them about the Viking Age.

Destination Viking Association has already involved partners both in the Scandinavian 'home lands' of the Vikings in the Nordic countries as well as in a number of the lands in the west where Scandinavians settled (the Isle of Man, Orkney and Shetland, Faeroe Islands, Iceland, Greenland and Newfoundland) and some of the Baltic Sea areas with strong Scandinavian impact during the Viking Age (Germany, Poland, Estonia, Latvia and Russia). The partnership is open to new partners and new countries.
